Michael David Dunn,45, was arrested for killing Jordan Davis,17, outside of a Jacksonville convenience store. The two were reportedly in the parking lot at the time of the shooting.

Davis was in the passenger seat playing music in a Dodge Durango. Dunn, one car over, asked them to turn the music down. Davis kept the volume at what it was playing. In response Dunn pulled out his gun shot at the teen.

Dun shot at the SUV 7 times as they drove away hitting Davis three times.

The jury convicted Dunn of first-degree murder, three counts of attempted murder and one count of shooting into a car.

Dunn refuses to admit being guilty. He still feels that he is innocent and acted in self-defense.  He even claimed that Davis had a gun despite no gun ever being found in the Durango.

Statement from the victim’s mother:

“I choose to forgive you Mr. Dunn for taking my son’s life. I choose to release the seeds of bitterness and anger and honor my son’s love. I choose to walk in the freedom of knowing God’s justice has been served…I pray that God has mercy on your soul.”
