The All Progressives Congress in Plateau State has expressed readiness to welcome members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, whose bid to return to the party was rejected by the state chapter of the party.
The state PDP had asked some of the members aspiring to be governor, to stop parading themselves as members of the party and to stop using the party’s logo and platform for their campaigns.
The members include former governors Joshua Dariye and Fidelis Tapgun, Mr. John Alkali, Mr. Jimmy Cheto and Jonathan Sheni.
Former interim chairman of APC, Gen. John Shagaya (retd), who spoke in Jos on Wednesday, said the party’s doors were open to joyously receive the rejected PDP members.
He said, “We are optimistic that the aggrieved members of PDP would defect to APC as the crisis in the ruling party deepens. On our own, we are set to destabilise the PDP in the state and ensure victory for our party in the general election come 2015. We are happy about the mistakes the ruling party in the state is doing.
“What is happening now was bound to happen and our party could provide an alternative for disgruntled members, who are unhappy with the way they have been treated in PDP”.
Shagaya, who was the immediate past Senator representing Plateau South, also disclosed that he would be seeking reelection into the seat in the 2015 elections.
