Wike Slams Amaechi For Crippling Rivers Judiciary, Campaigning For Himself

Former Minister of State for Education, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has slammed Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi for celebrating the Supreme Court judgment that brought him to government, while he had crippled the judiciary in the state.

“Amaechi is happy for Supreme Court, but Amaechi has crippled the judiciary. Amaechi is siphoning Rivers money, but he will lose Presidential and governorship election,” said Wike, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship aspirant in Rivers State.

Speaking in Abonema on Saturday during a rally where he addressed members of the PDP from the four local councils of Akuku Toro, Asari Toro, Degema and Bonny, Wike wondered why a man who benefitted from the candour of the judiciary locked up the courts to deny less privileged Rivers indigenes access to justice.

Wike regretted that instead of presenting his own candidate, Amaechi is busy campaigning for himself.

“Amaechi is spending on PDP governorship aspirants because he cannot present a candidate of APC that can face (me). I will win the PDP primary by the support of PDP members and will go ahead to win the governorship election.

Speaking at the event, Chief Precious Elegema, an Ijaw leader said it was no coincidence that Wike visited the Ijaws to promote his governorship ambition. He therefore expressed appreciation to the former minister for planning to choose his running mate from the area.

He therefore said the Ijaws will drop their governorship ambition for now to support Wike, as it was important to support a candidate that will liberate the state.

Chief David Briggs, Former Commissioner in Rivers State and King Hope Dan Obusenga, a traditional leader of Oceania in Akuku Toro LGA were other community leaders present at the event.
