Bayelsa United have escaped relegation following a 4-1 win over Lobi Stars on Match Day 37 of the Glo Premier League.
The ‘Restoration Boys’, who earlier in the season were competing in the preliminary rounds of the Caf Confederation Cup, will stay afloat in the domestic championship with 51 points from 37 matches.
FC Taraba and Gombe United will now slug the battle for the final relegation place out on the last day of the season.
FC Taraba, after their 3-0 home defeat of relegated Crown FC, are on 50 points and face Sharks FC in Port-Harcourt next Sunday. A draw will see the 2013-14 newcomers into a second successive season in the top-flight.
Gombe, who drew 1-1 with Warri Wolves at the Warri City Stadium, are on 47 points and host 5th-placed Abia Warriors, in contention for a continental ticket.
The trio of Nembe City, Crown FC and Kaduna United are already destined for life in the lower league, with the relegation stickers already slammed on their foreheads.
