Egypt Sack Coach After Afcon 2015 Ouster

Egypt have fired coach Shawky Gharib following the team’s failure to clinch ticket to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

The Pharaoh suffered a 2-1 defeat in Tunisia on Wednesday to finish third in Group G and miss out on next year’s finals.

Gharib, 55, was appointed in 2013. He won the tournament as a player in 1986.

Egypt have won the Nations Cup seven times, including three on the trot in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
