Falcao & Rojo Could Make Man Utd’s Squad for Hull

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed that defender Luke Shaw will only be out for the “next few weeks” while centre-back Marcos Rojo and striker Radamel Falcao could be in his match squad tomorrow.”

Shaw, 19, sustained “an ankle ligament injury” during the first half of last weekend’s 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirate Stadium.

“Luke sustained an ankle ligament injury but with no serious complications and he will be out for the next few weeks because of this,” Van Gaal, 63, read the prognosis on teenagers injury to reporters at his pre-game media briefing on Friday.

He also hinted that Falcao and Rojo could both return to United squad for the Premier League clash at home to Hull City on Saturday.

Argentine defender Rojo has not featured for the Old Trafford club since dislocating his shoulder during their 1-0 defeat at Manchester City just about a month ago.

On loan striker Falcao returned to full training the day after the win at Arsenal following a four-game absence with a calf problem.

“We have to wait to see until the last training session of course,” Van Gaal said. “It’s always difficult to say but we have good news, yes. You have to read between the lines.

“I have to train the last session and I live day by day at this moment. So maybe Falcao ca come back in the 18 (Match Day squad), maybe Rojo can come back in the 18. That’s it I think.”

Falcao’s availability could increase pressure on Robin van Persie, who has been linked with a move to Inter Milan. The Dutch striker was substituted against his former club Arsenal last weekend having had just 13 touches of the ball.

Van Gaal warned: “Every player in my selection has to fight for his position and I shall always take the best of the players and it must also be suitable for the mix of players. So it is also an obligation of a player that he does that.”

The manager expressed delights regarding his side being fourth in the Premier League table after playing the likes of Chelsea, City and Arsenal.

He said: “When you see how our preparation was, how many injuries, then it was a very big test and after the heavy opponents we are still fourth so I’m happy. We have to be at least fourth at the end of the league. Now is not so important. We have to improve our playing style and we have to beat more easily our opponents.”
