Jonathan Has Some Explanations To Give On Rising Boko Haram Killings Despite Emergency Rule – Gov. Gaidam

Gaidam, Yobe State governorHeartbroken by the killing of 48 students in a suicide bomb attack, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State on Monday asked President Goodluck Jonathan to explain to the people why insurgents were having a field day in the state despite the imposition of emergency rule.

He said the Federal Government must take action instead of indulging in the condemnation of such dastardly attacks.

The governor spoke in an emotional statement issued through his Special Adviser on Press Affairs and Information, Abdullahi Bego.

This is the first time the usually quiet governor will bare his mind on the insurgency in a distraught manner.

The statement said: “This morning, our state woke up to a very sad and heart-breaking news of a bomb attack on our young students at Government Comprehensive School, Potiskum, in which no fewer than 35 students were killed and many more injured.

“The thoughts of His Excellency, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam and his prayers are with the parents, teachers and families of the innocent victims of this callous and reprehensible attack.

“The governor is heartbroken and words cannot adequately convey the extent of his remorse and sadness.

“The governor has noted that this is the fifth time in a little over one year when our schools in Yobe State were brutally attacked and students killed. There was Government Secondary School, Damaturu; Government Secondary School Mamudo; College of Agriculture, Gujba; Federal Government College, Buni-Yadi; and now Government Comprehensive School, Potiskum.

“Governor Gaidam deeply regrets that all of these dastardly attacks took place under a climate of Emergency Rule declared in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa States by President Goodluck Jonathan.

“In theory, the Emergency Rule Declaration was a signal that more vigorous steps would be taken to protect the lives and property of people in the affected states and deploy the full might of the federal government to restore peace and security.

“Unfortunately, this has not been fully the case. Instead of forcing insurgents and criminals to flee, the insurgents are forcing innocent people to flee and making life miserable for everyone.

“Governor Gaidam believes that President Goodluck Jonathan has a very urgent responsibility to explain to the people of Yobe State and people all across the affected states why murderous and callous insurgent and criminal attacks are still on the rise despite the State of Emergency”.

The governor demanded immediate action by the federal government to put an end to the increasing wave of bombings in the state.

  1. Oga governor, if there is full emergency rule, you would not be on that seat right now. I also remember how bitterly your people fought Jona for even daring to declare the SoE in the first place. many northern leaders including Prof. Ango Abdulahi said Jonathan has declared war on the north (saying indirectly that the north is boko haram)! Are we remaining Nigerians all fools?
    This is extremely unfair!
How can you keep organising your people, the ordinary people on the street to kill, maim and burn other humans and then, turn around to accuse another person for the killing!
Sharia came to Nigeria. No Northern leader thinks it is bad. In fact, I remember, under Obasanjo, they said “it is sharia or nothing”.
Now, the dividends of sharia are here with us. Why must you heap the blame on the president?
Ok! He is the C-in-C, the buck stops at his table, he controls the army, he owns the budget, collects security votes in fact, he owns Nigeria! Ha!
It was a human being who taught that boy that killing in the name of Allah takes you to Al-Janna. It was a demonic human being that packed that boy up with bombs and asked him to go to assembly in it.
Or, was it Jonathan – and as your evil leaders have paid you to say – Ihejirika, Oritsejafor and even CAN that is organising the almighty Hausa/Fulani (‘purebloods’) to kill and main in order to establish an Islamic State style sharia in Nigeria?
Well, if this is the case, then, you Hausa/Fulani race are the most hopeless people on earth. Then, Ihejirika is the greatest leader that ever lived!

    • That does not clear the federal government led by GEJ from taking full responsibility for the ongoing ethnic cleansing in North East Nigeria.
If someone does not want this region as part and parcel of Nigeria, we should be told in clear and unambiguous terms instead of killing our youth and the deliberate wanton destruction of our economy. Nigerian leadership stinks in blood of the innocent.
