Man Commits Suicide At Ondo Church

A 24-year-old man has taken his own life at a church in Owo area of Ondo State.

The man identified as Lanre Falodu, was reported to have committed suicide at the premises of a church where he was taken for deliverance.

The deceased’s brother took him to the church located at Imola area of Owo to seek spiritual helps, reports Vanguard, citing Police sources.

After some time at the church, the deceased reportedly escaped at about 5:30a.m. on the ill-fated day, hanging himself within the church surroundings.

The pastor of the church was said to have found the corpse of Falodu. He informed the Police in the town.

The body had since been deposited at the Owo General Hospital morgue by police detectives who visited the scene.

When Vanguard contacted the Ondo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Wole Ogodo, he said that the matter had not been reported at the State Police Command in Akure.

Although the cause of Falodu’s death was not disclosed, according to suicide.org, over 90 percent of people who die by suicide have a mental illness at the time of their death. The most common mental illness is depression. Untreated depression is the number one cause for suicide.
