Musa, Enyeama Nominated for 2014 Caf Player of the Year Award

Nigeria forward Ahmed Musa and goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama are among nominees vying for the 2014 Confederation of African Football (Caf) Player of the Year award.

The Caf released a list of 25 players in contention for the African Footballer of the Year, and 20 players in contention for the Player of the Year (Based in Africa) category.

Ejike Uzoenyi, who plies his trade at South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) club Mamelodi Sundowns is the only Nigerian nominated in the 20-man list for the Footballer of the Year- Based in the Continent- prize.

The trio of Nigerian players in contention in their respective categories all featured at the 2014 Brazil World Cup, where the Super Eagles advanced into the round of 16 but lost to France.

CSKA Moscow winger Musa has been a standout member for club and country in the year in review, while Lille’s Enyeama is considered one of the best shot-stoppers in Europe and Africa till date.

Ivory Coast and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is the current holder of the Caf Footballer of the Year award.

The winners of these awards will be decided by votes from the head coaches and technical directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF.

The GLO- CAF Awards Gala will take place on Thursday, 8 January 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.
