Coach Stephen Keshi has named Raheem Lawal ahead of Hull City’s Sone Aluko and Enyimba International’s Kingsley Sokari for Wednesday evening’s final round of 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against South Africa.
Eskişehirspor of Turkey midfielder Lawal, who recovered from a thigh injury in time for the showdown, come in place of the injured Hope Akpan.
Reading FC’s Akpan dislocated his shoulder during last weekend’s 2-0 win in Congo and has returnd to England to continue treatment.
Kenneth Omeruo also comes in for the suspended Godfrey Oboabona. The Middleborough defender missed the victory in Pointe Noire due to a groin problem.
Aside the aforementioned changes in the Nigeria starting XI, all other players from last Saturday’s win retain their places.
A win for Nigeria guarantees an automatic ticket for Afcon 2015 billed for Equatorial Guinea, regardless of the outcome of the other Group A clash between hosts Sudan and Congo. South Africa have already sealed their place in the 30th edition of the Afcon finals and are assured of the group’s pole position.
Nigeria Starting XI vs. South Africa: (4-3-3): Enyeama (c); Efe, Omeruo, Egwuekwe, Oshaniwa; Onazi, Lawal, Mikel; Uche, Musa, Emenike
