Nothing To Celebrate In Chibok Recapture – Oyegun

John-Odigie-Oyegun

The National Chairman of the All Progressives congress (APC) John Oyegun, has slammed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for causing so much havoc in the country, with the condition now so pathetic that the country celebrated the recapture of Chibok town earlier lost to Boko Haram insurgents.

“Boko Haram drove you out of Chibok, and you manage to reinforce and come back to retake it and you are celebrating? What is there to celebrate?” he asked, pointing out that such action showed the extent to which Nigeria has degenerated.

Oyegun spoke when he received former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who was at the party secretariat on Monday to submit his nomination and expression of interest forms.

Oyegun therefore called on all presidential aspirants in the party to brace up for the serious task ahead, as they are seeking to lead a country that is in serious need of redemption.

“Every day that passes, the need for change becomes evident in this country, and the urgency for change becomes manifest,” he said.

“All our aspirants should have it at the back of their minds that you are dealing with a nation that needs salvaging and we are dealing with a ruling party that just does not care,” Mr. Oyegun said.

He added that the PDP has been exhibiting serious forms of impunity that the country cannot afford to continue to bear in its bid to retain power at all cost.

“Just this morning, seven members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, met and purportedly impeached the Speaker of a twenty six member House of Assembly,” Oyegun noted.

“This is the kind of lawlessness that is leading us into the multitude of problems that we have in this country today, and it is due to the lack of payment of any form of reasonable attention to the true priorities of this country,” he said.
