‘Pure Water’ Producers Go On Strike

Pure_waterThe Association of Table Water Producers of Nigeria, Kwara State chapter, has embarked on strike in protest against the planned increase in price of sachet water popularly known as ‘pure water’ in the state.

The sachet water producers had earlier informed the public of the proposed hike, which would see the cost of a bag of the commodity, usually containing 20 sachets of ‘pure water’, rise from N80 to N120 and a sachet from N5 to N10.

Justifying the price hike, chairman of the association, Prince Adeleke Adewumi, said that producers could no longer cope with the present price, urging consumers to please accept the planned increment in good faith.

  • This is ridiculous! Strike is now the order of the day. Can we blame them when we have irresponsible government at all levels.
The three tiers of government we have are irresponsible. They do not see any rationale to provide reliable welfare facilities that could make life worth living for masses.
I wonder what they are doing ad leaders. This cut across all parties.
The greed of our people has led them to exploiting all situation, seeking extra ordinary profit. You cannot sell water and be in debt, unless you are cursed. The excuse the association is putting up is not genuine. If is tax that is too much, let them talk to government. They dhould not add more to the already bad situation that masses are passing through.
