Nigerian table tennis player, Aruna Qadri has been named in a three-man Joola team to feature in the 17th edition of North American Table Tennis Teams (NATT) Championship in the United States of America.
The 2014 NATT tournament is slated for 28 through 30 November at the National Harbor, Maryland.
Qadri, who will be making his debut in the competition sponsored by Germany-based kits manufacturers Joola, is rated 30th in the world. He will be joined by former world champion and Olympian Jorg Roßkopf and Austria’s Chen Weixing.
A statement by the organizer said: “This three-day tournament features a team component in an otherwise individual-focused sport in the US. The first day offers players the opportunity to play higher and lower ranked teams based on their original seeding which will eventually determine the division placement for the player in rest of the event.
“After the first day, teams will spend the remainder of the tournament playing in a large round robin and face equally competitive teams that are also placed in the same division with them,” the statement explained the format of the competition.
