Romanian tennis player Simona Halep has announced she has ended her cooperation with Belgian coach Wim Fissette.
The world No. 3 reached the finals of this year’s Roland Garros, the Madrid Open and the WTA Tour Finals in Singapore. She won two WTA tournaments in 2014 in Doha and Bucharest.
“My collaboration with Wim Fissette will come to an end, following a mutual agreement. It was a good and beautiful year. I want to thank him and wish him good luck in the future,” she wrote on her Facebook page.
Halep began working with Fissette in January 2014. She was ranked at No. 10 when their partnership started and 8 months later rose to 2nd in the world rankings; a position she stayed in for eight weeks in a row.
Reports suggest that former Romanian tennis player and owner of the Madrid Open, Ion Tiriac, is currently helping Halep scout for another coach for next season.
