Artistes celebrate Jaiye Aboderin

Wherever the late Jaiye Aboderin is, he must have been smiling last Saturday evening as his family, friends and fans gathered to celebrate his life in an event tagged ‘10 Years on…the memories R Forever.’

The Federal Palace Hotel where the event took place was almost filled to the brim with the young, the old and people who were ready to have a good time.

Of course, they weren’t disappointed. There was no boring moment all through the event as the good music, great food and banters would have made virtually all guests wish the show continue longer than it did.

Granted it was a tribute night, it was also a night of music, dance and more music.

Some young artistes, BOJ and Chuck Dee, thrilled the guests with outstanding performances. Chuck Dee, in particular, showed that whoever voted him to be the winner of Jay Search 2011 didn’t make a mistake as the young dude thrilled the guests with his performance.

But that was not all. When Yinka Davies got on stage, so many people were expecting the diva to do what she knows how to do best –entertain- and she did just that.

Singing soulful songs that would melt a heart of stone, Yinka Davies got some people dancing and singing along with her. But the high point of her performance was when Lagbaja joined her to perform one of his songs, Far Away; everybody went wild.

However, singing couple, Tunde and Wunmi Obe, popularly known as TWO, came on stage and it was wow!

Their performance was already hot enough but when Blackky joined them on the stage, the hall blew up! With evergreen songs like Rosie, My Commanding wife and so many others, Blackky showed that he could still outshine even today’s artistes any time.

Ras Kimono brought the tempo higher when he also joined TWO on the stage performing a repertoire of his songs.

When guests were trying to recover from the groove, Ali Baba came on the stage and decided to crack more ribs with his jokes as he relived some fond memories he had with the late singer
