Barca’s Neymar Left Out of Squad for Getafe

Neymar has been omitted from Barcelona’s match day squad for the league game against Getafe on Saturday “as a precaution.”

Neymar, 22, withdrew from training on Friday. Barca said “the Brazilian has a problem with his left ankle and will not travel to Madrid as a precaution,” but did not give further prognosis as regard period of his absence.

The former Santos forward scored a wonderful goal in Wednesday’s 3-1 win against Paris St-Germain as the Catalan club leapfrogged the French champions to the top of their Uefa Champions League group.

Luis Enrique’s side are two points behind leaders Real Madrid, who play their final La Liga game before the Christmas break at Almeria on Friday evening before heading for Morocco for the Fifa Club World Cup.

Meanwhile Dani Alves returns to the squad after he missed the PSG game through suspension. Barca are on an eight-game winning run in all competitions.
