Bolton Sign Emile Heskey on Short-Term Deal

Bolton Wanderers have signed former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey on a short-term contract.

Ex-England international Heskey, 36, has been on trial with the club and played for their Under-21 side on Monday, spending 61 minutes on the pitch in the defeat by Reading.

The deal is subject to international clearance. Heskey had been with Australian A-league side Newcastle Jets before his release in April.

Bolton manager Neil Lennon is a former team-mate of Heskey, who made 62 appearances for England.

Bolton recently added another veteran in ex-Iceland striker Eidur Gudjohnsen, who returned to his former employers following a similar trial spell.

Heskey scored 119 goals in 563 league matches in England and 7 at international level.

Bolton are 16 in the Championship table and host Blackburn on Boxing Day.
