CDS Urges Nigerians To Have Faith In Military’s Capability To Defeat Boko Haram

service chiefsThe Chief of Defense Staff, Alex Badeh, on Wednesday assured Nigerians that the Nigerian Armed Forces will win the war against Boko Haram.

Speaking at the Presidential Villa after a breakfast meeting between service Chiefs and President Goodluck Jonathan, the CDS also assured that elections will hold in all parts of the country in spite the activities of the insurgents.

“We are certainly not losing it. We are winning the war. Don’t worry, Nigerians should have faith in their military. The nation will win this war. Elections will hold there. Don’t worry”, Mr. Badeh said.

He said the purpose of the meeting with the president was to brief him on the security situation in the country.

“Of course, you are aware of the security situation in the country, the president thought it fit to call us this morning for us to come and brief him about the current situation of things. We have told the president exactly where we are and our future plans. As you know, we can’t talk about our future plans here; that will mean us telling the enemy what we are doing”, he said.

In response to a question on the arrest of impostors posing as Boko Haram members and the failed ceasefire agreement, Mr. Badeh said he would rather not discuss ‘those things’ and pleaded to allow the Department of State Security Service, SSS, do its job.

“It is better not to discuss those things. SSS is on it, they are doing their own investigation. They did a briefing yesterday and they have told you exactly what they are doing. It is better we leave the SSS to handle that one”, he said.

Also speaking on fifth columnists in the Armed Forces, he said: “Don’t worry, the military is handling fifth columnists in its own way”.

Mr. Badeh also spoke about the military’s successes in reclaiming Mubi town from Boko Haram control.

“Normal life is back in Mubi and around that place. We are liberating more and more communities. People are moving in, life is returning back to normal gradually”.

  1. I am a strong believer in the ability of Nigerian Military by God’s grace to eliminate Boko Haram completely from Nigeria. The CDS must have underestimated the insurgents as he promised to eliminate them before the 1st half of this year. He also underestimated the dangeruos role of moles within the Military and the possibility of mutiny within the Military. I’m glad that they have been able to overcome the problems within and with fresh supply of arms to our men, Boko Haram is being gradually eliminated. Nigerian Military boast of the best Snipers in the world. They’ll soon storm Sambisa forest to route out the insurgents. Just as Nigeria did not get help from America before sending Ebola Virus Disease packing, America will equally watch Nigerian Military eliminate Boko Haram without America’s help. We are the giants of Africa and we can solve our problems and that of Africa!
