Angel Di Maria could be named in Manchester United’s match day squad for the trip to Aston Villa on Sunday after training with the rest of the squad during the week.
The midfielder has not featured for the ‘Red Devils’ since limping off in the closing stages of his side’s win over Hull City last month.
Speaking to reporters at the club’s Aon Training Complex on Friday, manager Louis van Gaal confirmed the Argentine, who ended Lionel Messi’s eight-year run as Argentina’s best foreign-based Player of the Year earlier in the week, trained this week and could be named among the substitutes at Villa Park.
“He (Di Maria) has trained this week with us but he’s not match-fit after one week,” the Dutch boss said. “Maybe I shall select him for the bench, or maybe not. I have to make my decision because we have one training [session] to go.”
