The Federal Government has declared Thursday, Dec. 25 and Friday, Dec. 26 as public holidays to mark Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations. It also declared Jan. 1, 2015 as public holiday to mark the New Year.
The government made this known in a statement signed by Abubakar Magaji, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior.
The statement said that the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro made the declaration on behalf of the federal government.
Moro therefore enjoined Nigerians, particularly the Christian faithful, to extend the spiritual benefits of Christmas to their lives and contribute to the development of the nation through this.
He wished all Nigerians a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year celebrations and urged them to use the period as a time of prayer for peace and unity in the country.
