Injured Manchester City youngster Kelechi Iheanacho will resume training by the second week of next month, officials have disclosed.
The 2013 U-17 Fifa World Cup MVP has in rehabilitation at his parent club City after picking up an ankle injury during training with Major League Soccer (MLS) club Colombus Crew. City officials have assured he will resume training early in the New Year.
“Iheanacho will resume training in the second week according to Manchester City officials. That means he will be available for the Flying Eagles training camp ahead of the African Youth Championship,” disclosed team secretary Auwal Aliyu Ibrahim.
Iheanacho, 18, was currently called up by the Nigeria U-20 and U-23 teams.
Nigeria have been drawn alongside hosts Senegal, Congo and Ivory Coast in Group A of the 2015 AYC, scheduled to start March 8 and end 22. The3 Flying Eagles open their campaign against Senegal on March 8.
The AYC semi-finalists will clinch automatic qualification for the 2015 Fifa U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
