Lagos APC Guber Candidate, Ambode Visits Fashola

Ambode-FasholaThe All Progressives Congress candidate for Lagos State in the 2015 governorship election, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the state Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) in his office.

The visit, interpreted in some quarters as a fence-mending one following the outcome of the APC governorship primaries which pitted one of the national leaders of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu against Fashola, was also to seek the governor’s support for next year’s election.

Gov. Fashola had reportedly supported a former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Justice in the state, Mr. Olasupo Shasore (SAN), while Tinubu threw his weight behind Ambode.

In an apparent bid to downplay the news reports that greeted Ambode’s victory at the APC primaries, Mr. Tinubu in a statement released by his media office on Saturday maintained that the relationship between him and Fashola was cordial and dismissed reports that he was unhappy with the governor for supporting Shasore discreetly.

Monday’s visit of Ambode to Fashola and the governor’s well-publicised congratulatory message to the APC governorship candidate has put to rest speculations that all is not well within the ruling party in Lagos.
