Atletico Madrid have secured the transfer of midfielder, Cani from Villarreal on loan for the rest of the season.
The Spanish La Liga champions acted in time to fill the vacuum left in the wake of Italian Alessio Cerci’s departure to AC Milan in a swap deal for Spaniard Fernando Torres last week.
“He is an experienced player in our league and has tremendous quality that will increase the competition within the squad,” Atletico’s sporting director Jose Luis Caminero said in a statement on the club’s official website.
“He is used to handling great responsiblity and we are happy with his arrival because we believe he will offer a lot in the decisive part of the season.”
Cani joined the ‘Yellow Submarines’ from Real Zaragoza in 2006 and has 23 league goals under his belt at the El Madrigal.
