policeA female student of Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Jalingo, Taraba State and her father were yesterday arrested while trying to enter the school premises with two military hand grenades.

Daily Trust learnt that the suspect who is an SS 1 student of the school was discovered with the hand grenades stocked in her bag during search operations by security men at the gate.

The suspect and her father were said to have come from Numan in Adamawa State to resume school.

Men of the Taraba police command arrested the suspects immediately after they were alerted.
When contacted, Taraba Police spokesman, ASP Joseph Kwaji, who confirmed the incident, explained that the suspect and her father are currently under custody.

According to him, policemen from the bomb disposal unit were immediately dispatched to area upon receipt of the information and two military grenades were recovered from the suspect.

Kwaji said the suspects were still being interrogated.

He commended the school management for its proactive security measures that led to the discovery of the grenades, adding that the public should remain vigilant.
