A Qantas flight was aborted and forced to return to Melbourne not long after take off because of a passenger who was a “nervous flyer”. ABC news report:

Fifteen minutes into Thursday’s Qantas Link flight to Hobart the passenger, identified as an 18-year-old man, became “quite fidgety and agitated”, according to a Qantas spokeswoman.

She said the captain decided they were not that far from Melbourne and the plane returned to the airport at about 1:00pm (AEDT).

Officers from the Australian Federal Police met the aircraft on arrival to investigate and interviewed the man.

They determined there was no threat and no further action was taken.

The flight left Melbourne about 45 minutes later.

The airline said reports the passenger attempted to open the exit door were “unconfirmed”, however due to air pressure the exit doors could not have been opened at that altitude.
