Lazio are set to be without their leading goal-scorer Filip Djordjevic for several weeks because of a right ankle fracture and sprain, the Italian club have announced.
Djordjevic, 28, suffered the injury in just over ten minutes of coming on for Miroslav Klose in th 87th minute during Saturday’s 3-1 Serie A win over AC Milan after landing akwardly in an attempt to reach a delivery into the opponents area.
The Serb “will undergo surgery, probably on the morning of January 27.”
The win was the Biancocelesti’s tenth this season, and saw them move up to third place a point ahead of Napoli and Sampdoria ahead of the latter two clubs’ respective games on Sunday.
With Djordjevic, who has seven goals to his credit so far, likely to be sidelined for the next three months, Lazio are now making a last ditch effort to sign another striker before the winter transfer deadline at the end of this week.
