President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has reiterated the federation’s resolve at ensuring it “takes the right decision” on Coach Stephen Keshi.
The future of the out-of-contract coach has been on the balance amidst claims he has been offered a new contract while Nigerians have been made to wait much longer for a formal official announcement by the football fraternity.
Keshi’s initial three-year contract expired last July after the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.

The Executive Committee (ExCo) of the NFF meets on Thursday in Lagos. Amongst the issues on the agenda includes the situation of contract negotiations with the 52-year-old.
“The chairman technical committee is on with coach Stephen Keshi. And he is going to recommend to the board the decision of his committee. Like I keep saying, contracts are not signed over night,” Amaju stated.
“We make an offer, Keshi says he doesn’t like it, it goes back to us, we insert the right clauses, it goes to the legal department. We just want to ensure that we do a thorough job.
“In Nigeria, we have a very peculiar environment and that is why it’s taking this long. We don’t want to make mistakes but to take a right decision that is beneficial to all.”
We don’t need Keshi!
