Yemen Chief Of Staff, Two Others Abducted At Gunpoint


The Yemeni Presidential chief of staff, Ahmed bin Mubarak alongside two of his guards were abducted in the nation’s capital on Saturday morning. There have been no ransom demands. UPI has more:

Yemeni officials said Shiite Houthi rebels could be behind the kidnapping. Mubarak, the chief of staff to President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi, was abducted as he was traveling to a meeting to discuss the new constitution.

The Houthis swept through the capital city last month, installing themselves in key government positions. Jane Marriott, the British ambassador to Yemen, expressed concern about the kidnapping and called for his immediate release.
