Andre Schurrle Signs Long-Term Contract With Wolfsburg

Andre Schurrle has signed a long-term contract with German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg from Chelsea.

The World Cup winner penned a four-and-a-half-year deal thought to worth a reported £24m plus add-ons with the Wolves on deadline day after completing his medical. He will earn around 85,000-a-week over the course of his new deal.

Schurrle, 24, returns to Germany following a season-and-half absence and reunites with his former Chelsea team-mate Kevin de bruyne.

Chelsea said in a statement: “We thank Andre for his efforts and wish him the very best of luck for the future.”

Schurrle joined Chelsea in June 2013from Bayer Leverkusen and went on to score 14 goals in 65 appearances in all competitions.

Second-placed Wolfsburg narrowed the gap between them and leaders Bayern Munich by eight points on Friday following a 4-1 win on resumption of the German League after the winter break.

Wolfsburg travel to Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday as they look to intensify pressure on runaway leaders Bayern.
