President Goodluck Jonathan, has appealed for more help from the US Government in the fight against Boko Haram.
A report by AFP said Jonathan made the plea in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. “Are they (the United States) not fighting ISIS? Why can’t they come to Nigeria?
“They are our friends. If Nigeria has a problem, then I expect the US to come and assist us”, Mr. Jonathan was quoted as telling the newspaper.
But Pentagon spokesman, Rear Admiral John Kirby, said there are no plans to deploy boots on ground in Nigeria. “I can tell you that there are no plans as I speak here to send unilaterally, to send or to add US troops into Nigeria. There are no US troops operating in Nigeria”, he told reporters.
Kirby said the United States was in the early phases of helping establish a multi-national task force of African nations to help Nigeria defeat Boko Haram.
Obama! What have we done wrongly to u
Its as if they do not want to help us,but the Lord is our strength….we will overcome
the regional alliance between us and neighbouring countries is a step in the right direction…up GEJ
I feel obama is trying to send us a message but good that our President is a prospective leader, soon these extremists will be wiped out of our soil
What has GEJ done to deserve this treatment, they should please help us out
The Presidency should have known by now that the U.S is trying as much as possible to distance themselves from this administration which is very wrong.
We hope for the best in all these.
DIARIS GOD OOH!
Fear of the unknown is the beginning of wisdom.
the US are always all about themselves and what they stand to gain….
the US have disappointing us they will sure get their reward for betraying Nigerians…
if they don’t want to help us let them go,we will survive it and come out victorious
America or should I specify Obama, has made it increasingly difficult to combat this Haram issue. From refusal to sell weapons to refusal to train Nigerian soldiers. But there is God.
Nigeria will conquer in the war against Boko Haram.
All these attacks are here just to destabilize Jonathan’s government. He will move Nigeria forward no matter the attacks.
True talk Mfoniso. Knowing that security of lives and property is essential in order for Nigeria to realize its potential, President Goodluck Jonathan has prioritized measures to enhance security over his first term. He will do more in 2nd term.
