Milan Sign Italian Defenders Luca Antonelli & Gabriel Paletta

AC Milan have signed Italian defenders Luca Antonelli and Gabriel Paletta from Genoa and Parma respectively.

Both players have signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the San Siro outfit.

A club statement read: “AC Milan announces that Luca Antonelli has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him tied to the club until June 30, 2018.”

Paletta, 28, who made three Premier League appearances for Liverpool between February 2006 and August 2007, joined Parma from Boca Juniors in 2010 and scored 5 goals in 113 appearances.

The Serie A club added: “Gabriel Paletta is a new AC Milan player! He signed a contract until June 30, 2018.”

Antonelli, 27, started in 18 league games for Genoa this season, scoring three goals and setting up one more. The Italy international returns to the Rossoneri, where he began his playing career before heading to Parma in 2008 and Genoa three years later.

Both players are available for Saturday’s trip to Juventus.

Milan are without Italian defender Ignazio Abate who faces four weeks on the sidelines. The 28-year-old is nursing a right thigh injury which he picked up during the 3-1 home triumph over Parma on Sunday. He will undergo further tests in two weeks’ time.
