Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State has expressed worry over the negative media reports about the state, wondering why the media always focus on the negative happenings when his administration has achieved so much.
The governor also expressed the belief that Bauchi is the least reported state in the country.
Yuguda made these views known when the state Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Haman Sa’ad, and his entourage paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Bauchi, on Wednesday.
Yuguda added, “Bauchi State is among the most peaceful states, if not the most peaceful state in the county given that it is in the North-East especially with all the media hype about insecurity.
“Unfortunately, not much is spoken about Bauchi State. Our media friends are here, they’ve been with us and it has appeared to me that we are the most under-reported state.
“Only bad news comes out of Bauchi, there is no good news that comes out from here.
“I have challenged the media representatives that they should go back to my campaigns in 2007, let them recall the promises I made then. They should tell me if there is any promise I made that I have not fulfilled. If I have done that, I should be celebrated”.
He explained that he swore on oath before God to protect lives and property of the people and to provide the dividends of democracy.
The governor noted that he had delivered all the dividends of democracy to the people in the past eight years of his administration.
He said, “I don’t blow my trumpet, even though they say that ‘if you don’t blow your trumpet, nobody will do it for you’. But I don’t hold press conferences to say I have done this and that.
“But sir, I want to tell you that we have one of the best airports in the country. I am not trying to blow my trumpet.
“We have built over 15 general hospitals and rehabilitated the old ones and built over 60 local roads”.
