Italian defender, Davide Santon has re-signed for Inter Milan from Newcastle on loan for the rest of the season with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

The 24-year-old left-back joined the Magpies from the same Italian Serie A club in August 2011.

Injuries had impeded Santon’s development at Newcastle. He was out for six months with a knee problem after missing another couple of months with hamstring injury.

The Italy international is hopeful to get his career back on track at the Estadio Guiseppe Meaza, where he came up through the ranks and made 40 appearance in his first spell.

He helped the Nerazzuri to the Serie A title in 2008/2009 and 2009/2010, as well as the Champions League in 2009/2010.
