Police Arrest 7 Members Of Armed Robbery Syndicate In Lagos

The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Lagos Police Command had cracked-down a syndicate of suspected armed robbers, arresting seven of them, including three graduates, using digital investigation.

The operatives also recovered four stolen vehicles including the CRV jeep belonging to a staff of Channels Television,

Parading the suspects on Tuesday the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Aderanti, said four locally-made double barrel guns and four live cartridges were also recovered from the suspects.

“The suspects confessed to have snatched the said CRV jeep belonging to a staff Channels Television, one Honda Crosstour belonging to one Adeola Adediran and many other cars within Lagos and Ogun state”, he said.

According to him, they also confessed that a notorious receiver of stolen properties (names withheld), who is also on the Police wanted list, bought all the cars from them.

Aderanti said the first three suspects were arrested on Feb. 2 in their hideout in Ikorodu and Ojodu, following a report by a Channels Television staff who was dispossed of her car at gun point.

He said the suspected receiver went underground having been alerted by the arrest of some of the robbers.

“However, owing to deployment of advance technology and diligent investigation by SARS operatives, the receiver was arrested in Gwarzo, Kano State.

“The arrest of Mohammed, however, led to the arrest of the three other suspected armed robbers who are all graduates”, Aderanti said.

He urged Lagosians not hesitate to avail the police with intelligence which would help to mop out crime in Lagos.

The recovered vehicles were one Honda CRV with reg no: LSD 322 CK, one Peugeot car with reg no: AU 380 KWL, one Toyota Camry with reg no: GRZ 42 AA and Honda Accord car with reg no: KSF 95 DB. (NAN)
