The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday said he would ensure that the Naira was equal to the dollar in value, if voted into office.
Speaking during the South-East presidential rally of the party at Dan Anyima Stadium, Owerri, the former head of state expressed the current value of the naira does not speak well for the economy.
“It is sad that the value of the naira has dropped to more than N230 to one dollar; this does not speak well for the nation’s economy,” he said.
He therefore urged the people to vote for APC,so as to ensure that the required change comes.
Speaking Earlier, Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha urged the APC supporters to vote for the party’s candidates at all levels, noting that a vote for Buhari without support to others at the state would amount to nothing.
The governor promised that Buhari would address the problem of electricity, bring back the kidnapped Chibok girls and promote industrial growth.
There is no quote attributed to either Buhari or APC in the article where he said he will make naira equal to dollar. What he was quoted as saying is “It is sad that the value of the naira has dropped to more than N230 to one dollar; this does not speak well for the nation’s economy,’’. How does this statement equate to making $1 equal to N1? Is it not true that the naira is losing value everyday and it is negatively affecting our economy? This is a smear campaign against Buhari by NAN (of course funded by PDP). Neither Buhari nor the APC made such a statement . Moreover, the naira is already equal in value to dollar (which is 200 to 1 at present), it can only appreciate or depreciate in value.
I strongly believe dat Gen. Buhari will do even more dan dis if he comes to power. Our govt need to b transformed from grass to grace or from the power of corruption (PDP) to a change for progress (APC). Let’s nt think abot religion bt rather think abot one family living in one country. It’s Buhari who can change dis country, no more, no less!
Well I can not doubt him because he has been there before and knows the Federal Government ways of generating revenue and its capacity. Let us be positive and believe in God.
