Schalke 04 have completed the signing of Manchester City defender, Matija Nastasic on a permanent basis.
The German club confirmed on Wednesday it has triggered the transfer clause on the contract of the 21-year-old, who has been on loan at the Veltins-Arena since January, in a deal which will keep him in Gelsenkirchen until 2019.
“I am proud and happy that I remain at Schalke,” the centre-back told schalke04.de.
“The team did very well taking me from day one, I was immediately a part of the team. In the future I would like to help us to achieve our goals as a team.”
Nastasic, a product of Partizan Belgrade’s academy, joined Man City for a reported £12m in 2012 and was named young player of the year at the Etihad in his first year.
His second season was blighted by a knee injury, but he succeeded in making a total of 51 appearances and claimed a Premier League’s winner’s medal last season.
Having impressed in nine appearances for the Royal Blues, the club have decided to tie him down for further four years.
