The Commander of the Special Task Force on Jos crisis, David Enetie, has assured residents of Plateau State full military protection against attackers in the state.
The STF boss gave the assurance Tuesday at the Plateau state House of Assembly, while thanking members of a group called United Nigerians against Terrorism, who came to the Assembly to express satisfaction with the military operations against Boko Haram in North East Nigeria.
The group particularly hailed the military over its successes in the fight against insurgency in the North Eastern part of the country.
Some members of the group, however, appealed to the military not to scuttle democratic governance, but to work towards ensuring that all Nigerian territories are recaptured and the abducted Chibok girls rescued.
Maj.-Gen. Enetie, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mohammed Majagi, a Brigadier General in the Nigeria Army, assured Plateau residents of full military protection against attacks.
The STF Commander commended President Goodluck Jonathan for equipping the military, which he said led to the recent success recorded in the troubled states, stressing that the “military will continue to do its best to protect the country’s territorial integrity”.
In his address, Speaker of the State Assembly, Titus Alams, appealed to the group to be peaceful during and after the forthcoming polls.
Earlier, leader of the group, Redzie Jugo, who is the Plateau State Liaison officer, Kaduna, called on government to continue motivating the military to be more committed in the fight against Boko Haram.
