The future of Nigeria will be decided on March 28 – Ekweremadu

2015-election

The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, says Nigeria’s future will be decided on Saturday as Nigerians vote in the presidential election.

“Saturday is going to be a very defining day for us as the outcome of the election will decide the future of this country,” Ekweremadu said this in Enugu on Thursday while rounding off his campaign.

“There is a lot happening under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan that we need to sustain,” he told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Ekweremadu expressed optimism that Nigerians would not be clouded by ethnic or religious sentiments, but would show sense of patriotism at such a defining moment.

“It appears to me that some of the efforts we have made to live in peace are being eroded by some of the things people say in the areas of religion and tribe.

“Sometimes, when people insist that somebody from their part of the country must be president, it baffles me.

“This is because if you look at the history of those that have ruled Nigeria even at the state level, their local government areas are not even better,” he said.

The senator representing Enugu West Senatorial zone at the National Assembly appealed to his constituents and other Nigerians to vote for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He noted that the current administration had done a lot in the areas of job creation and opening the critical sectors of the economy.
