Kalu Uche came up with Levante’s winner as they edged Eibar 2-1 to continue their impressive home form on Friday.

Eiibar had taken the lead in the 55th minute, when Saul Berjon struck a well-taken high volley inside the far post from Eneko Boveda’s cross.

David Barral drew the Orriols hosts level five minutes after an hour, deflecting Antonio Gacia’s shot on goal, to beat goalkeeper Jaime Jemenez into the net.

Uche secured a vital three point with his third goal of the season two minutes later pouncing on Raul Rodriguez’s defensive error to finish off a loose ball after several ricochets.

Eibar ended the match with ten men when Dani Garcia was sent off for a second bookable offence two minutes from time. The Basque side, after an impressive start to the season, are staring in the face of trouble. They have now lost seven games in a row with next week’s trip to Barcelona on the card.

The Frogs are out of the relegation zone, up to 16th place on 25 points after 26 rounds of matches. Eibar are 13th on 27 points.

Either of Elche or Almeria have a chance to leapfrog Levante on Saturday when the latter visit the Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero.

Real Madrid are top of the La Liga standings with 61 points, two points ahead of Barca in second place.
