Bayern Munich captured their third consecutive Bundesliga title on after Wolfsburg lost to Borussia Monchengladbach on Sunday.
Pep Guradiola’s side, 1-0 winners at home to Hertha Berlin on Saturday, have now clinched the Bundesliga title 25 times.
Wolfsburg needed to beat Monchengladbach to move up to third and stretch the champions elects’ wait for the title, but lost in injurY time courteSy of a Max Kruse goal.
The Bavarians next face rivals Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal Cup on Tuesday as they bid to secure another German league and cup double.
“Retaining the title is a magnificent achievement. All credit to the coach and the team. They’ve been fantastic throughout, in a season following a World Cup where we had a host of players in action,” Chairman Karl-Heinz Rumminege said.
“We’ll have a magnificent party at some stage, no worries. But all in good time. When we do, it’ll be a huge celebration.”
They will face Barcelona in the last four of the UEFA Champions League next month.
Bayern are looking to secure a third consecutive domestic double and a secon treble in three years.
The victory means Spanish coach Guardiola has now recorded five league successes in his six seasons as manager- three with Barcelona and two with Bayern.
