Bayern Munich defender, Javi Martinez has resumed first-team training following an eight-month injury layoff.
The centre-back, 26, who has not featured for the Bavarians since damaging cruciate ligament in his left knee on 13 August during a German Super Cup game against Borussia Dortmund, emerged to a rapturous applause at the club’s Sabener Strasse training facility a day after the side’s 6-1 rout of FC Porto in the Uefa Champions League.
“I’m overjoyed, The Spaniard told Bayern’s in-house TV after the session. “I know I have a lot of work ahead of me yet.”
“They were cheering and clapping for me. I guess they’re all delighted for me.”
Martnez has his sight on getting a possible “playing time very soon.”
