Cleaners at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza have stopped working over non-payment of salaries for three months, Vanguard reports.
According to the news platform, offices, toilet and other parts of the secretariat have been left unkempt for days as the cleaners have vowed not to work until they are paid. However, nobody seems to care as the secretariat has been deserted by visitors and party members since President Goodluck Jonathan lost the March 28 election to Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In fact, many bigwigs of the party are already crossing over to the APC.
Vanguard learnt that a private company, Sabobak Kleen&Associates, is in charge of cleaning of the secretariat. But the PDP owes the company arrears of unpaid services rendered to the party. It has therefore not been able to pay its workers who have now down tools.
Efforts to contact the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, to confirm the development were not successful.
