Heartland Edge Pillars to Climb Top of Glo Premier League

Heartland FC returned to the top of the Glo Premier League standings after a 1-0 win over Kano Pillars in a rescheduled Match Day 1 fixture on Thursday.

Bright Ejike clinically slot home from the penalty spot to send the Dan Anyiam stadium into wild jubilation after Adamu Hassan blocked Ebere Odiche’s goal-bound header with his hand five minutes after the hour mark.

The win saw them leapfrog Giwa FC at the top of standings as they now have 12 points from a possible 18- a point better than the former and Enyimba FC. Champions Pillars remain eighth in the table.

The match was postponed to allow ‘Sai Masu Gida’ recover from the robbery attack which got five of their players injured on their way to Owerri for the league season opener.
