The Governor-elect of Cross River State, Senator Ben Ayade, has said that he will be the first person from a poor background to become governor of the state and as such, will ensure that he improves on the welfare of the people of the state, majority of whom are poor.
Senator Ayade, who spoke in Calabar, the state capital while receiving his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commissioner in charge of Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers States, Mrs Thelma Iremiren, said he will create a new agenda that is people-friendly.
“We shall, with this opportunity afforded us by the people, create a new agenda, an agenda that focuses on the poor by making the means of production easy and affordable to move our people forward”, he said.
