Rooney Injured in Man Utd Defeat at Goodison Park

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney suffered a knee injury during Sunday’s 3-0 defeat at Everton, manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed.

The skipper was substituted on 88 minutes and was then pictured with an ice park around his leg in the dugout.

“Yes, Rooney was injured. He had a shot on his knee, so we have to wait and see how heavy (serious) it is,” Van Gaal told MUTV.

Goals from James McCarthey, John Stones and Kevin Mirallas inflicted a distraughtful 3-0 defeat on Manchester United.

The defeat left United just seven points ahead of Liverpool in the race for the final Champions League qualification slot, with four matches left in the season.

Van Gaal’s men will play West Bromwich Albion (h), Crystal Palace (a), Arsenal (h) and Hull City (a) in their remaining fixtures.
