World Cup Venue Ideal For Flying Eagles, Says Official

Flying Eagles secretary, Ibrahim Aliyu Auwal has said he has been most impressed with the facilities he saw at the team’s New Plymouth venue for the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Auwal was in New Zealand on the invitation of FIFA to inspect facilities that will be at the disposal of African champions Nigeria during the World Cup, which begins on May 30.

“The playing pitch is superb, so too the team’s hotel, which we will share with Hungary. The weather will be a little bit cold by the time of the World Cup but overall I expect a very successful tournament,” said the Flying Eagles official, who was also interviewed by one of the local newspapers there.

“Everybody was warm and I believe that will also be the case when the entire team arrive there in late May.”

Nigeria will play all their first round group games in New Plymouth beginning with the showdown against Brazil on 1 June.

Auwal expressed confidence the Flying Eagles will make history in New Zealand.
