Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Humels has snubbed Manchester United’s approach and will remain with the Westfalians next season, according to reports in Germany.

The centre-back has told Dortmund director Michael Zorc he will see out his contract which ends in 2017, according to German Magazine Kicker.

Meaning coach Louis van Gaal may have to look elsewhere to replenish his struggling back-line, which has conceded 37 goal- the second highest tally among the top-four teams- so far this season.

“It was legitimate that Mats was thinking about his future but I have always pointed out that he is firmly part of our plans,” Zorc is quoted as saying on Kicker.
