President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of Justice Amiru Sanusi as a Justice of the Supreme Court.

Sanusi’s appointment followed a recommendation by the National Judicial Council (NJC).

A statement issued yesterday by the Acting ‎Director of Information at the NJC, Soji Oye, said that the new apex court Justice will be sworn in on Thursday by the Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the‎ NJC, Justice Mahmud Mohammed.

Jonathan had in March nominated Justice Sanusi as Justice of the Supreme Court in a letter addressed to senate president David Mark, dated March 11, 2015, in conformity with provisions of section 231 (2) of the 1999 constitution.

Prior to his appointment, Sanusi was a serving judge of the Court of Appeal Abuja division.
