Fellow Nigerians, this is the time to celebrate, the long awaited change that we`ve patiently waited for is finally here. Even though our celebration seems to be taunted by the ongoing fuel scarcity, but there is no reason to panic. The type of transformation we see today, we shall see no more.

You see, as it stands now, Nigeria seems to be on hold. We are in a dormant stage, like we do not have a president in place and a leader to direct our affairs. And as the looming fuel scarcity goes on, it is logical not to expect a meaningful end to the scarcity not until the inauguration of a new administration is over.

No one in the presidency has “convincingly” told us what we need to know about the continued scarcity and how they tend to resolve it as soon as possible. It`s quite obvious that President Jonathan no longer feels concerned about whatsoever befall us, even though he never did in the last five years. But by this time next week, it is expected that the story would have changed. A President is expected to be in place and the government shall be on his shoulder. He is the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari.  He is expected to tell us what we need to know about the looming fuel subsidy and put a lasting solution to this failure of government. May be this is exactly the right time to let go of subsidy. Well this is not the topic for today but for another day.

Friday this week will be 29th May, 2015. It`s Nigerian democracy day, a day when we will be ushering in a new government to oversee the affairs of the nation for the next 4 years. History has been so fair on us and it wouldn`t be a different story on that day.

Much has been said about President Jonathan`s administration. So many cautioned him about the possible failure of his government if he continued to pay attention to a few golden calves and ignore the vast majority of people that gave him their mandates. He decided to go with the few golden calves but the people didn`t spare him as he paid for it during the last election that got him voted out.

By this time next week, President Jonathan would have been referred to as the former president of the federal republic of Nigeria. In 2011, we voted him with high hope and aspiration to bring smile to the faces of the people and salutary change to the lives of the people. But he decided to go in the way of the old while he thought the people will overlook his carelessness. The people declined and voted him out in a relatively peaceful election on March 28th, 2015. President Jonathan had his fair chances to write his name on the sand of time but he preferred to give himself cheaply to those that told him lies.

By this time next week, history would have absolved us and would have vindicated us that we do not fall among men that scammed and deceived the president and told him all manner of lies about the way he was perceived globally while the opposite was the case.

By this time next week, history would have absolved us and vindicated us that we do not belong to the class of yesterday men that told the president that he is the best president Nigeria ever had since independence.

By this time next week, history would have absolved us and exonerated us that we are not men with low prestige and no integrity that told the president that he is like Jesus Christ of Nazareth who bears the burden of the whole nation.

By this time next week, a President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria would have been put in place. The last time we had one was in 2010 before the death of Umaru Musa Yar`Adua. What we had after that was a matter- Had mass and occupied space. By this time next week also, a Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria would have been put in place. The last time we had one was in 2007. And that was Atiku Abubakar. What we`ve had after then were men without courage and charisma that lack the nitty gritty to vice a president of a nation.

You see, no one is expecting a miracle and no one thinks Nigeria will get better over night, but the truth is, by this time next week, we would have had a leader with a vision and a goal. A leader that will not tolerate stupidity in both high and low places and that will not say stealing is not corruption.

By this time next week, change would have been here.

God Bless Nigeria

  1. This is another opportunity given to all Nigerians by the Divine Creator who controls affairs of men.He had just sent a man of proven integrity to lead the nation and we should be grateful. Unfortunately, there are some enemies of progress who are too blinded to see it. They prefer to wallow in the present state of confusion and degradation instead of economic prosperity. I beseech all Nigerians to give the new incoming administration full support. Please, do not blow it. The whole world is watching as well as God. Thanks, God bless you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
