The highly respected Yoruba-farmers’ group, The Agbekoya, has declared that the role(s) played by the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere and the Odua Peoples Congress, OPC, in the just-concluded general elections has made them lose their remaining level of credibility in Yorubaland.
The Secretary of Agbekoya, Dr. Ade Ogunlana, in a statement he jointly signed with the Ambassador of the society, Chief Ajibola Salau on Tuesday, said the role played by the two prominent Yoruba groups during the polls left much to be desired.
Afenifere and OPC had supported Presidnt Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party, because of his resolve to implement the report of the 2014 National Conference.
However, The Agbekoya alleged that since the demise of the former Afenifere leader, Chief Abraham Adesanya, the body had become factionalized and used by unscrupulous persons to “sell out” Yorubas.
The Agbekoya also accused the Frederick Fasehun and Gani Adams-led OPC of falsely claiming to be fighting the cause of the Yoruba while in actual fact, they were only interested in pursuing their selfish agenda.
The Agbekoya, therefore, stated that the Afenifere and the OPC had become a “disgrace” to the entire Yoruba race.
The group added that their alleged involvement in partisan politics had cast doubts on their integrity as the organizations that should be fighting the cause of the Yoruba race, therefore, The Agbekoya remained the only group still demonstrating genuine concern for the entire Yorubas.
Agreed 100% sir,,, they are criminal and only fighting for their pocket, not for any yoruba race…
